Everyone has intuitive abilities. Some are more aware of theirs. Some are more practiced, but intuition is a natural function of the brain.
Many studies are being done to determine exactly which neurons in which hemisphere fire with exactly which thought. Since the studies continue and I am not a scientist, I’m going to resist describing intuition as a right brain attribute.
However, we don’t have to know which part of the brain is firing in order to have certain experiences and having unique experiences is what intuition and subtle energies are all about.
Intuition occurs when you are in touch with your ability to perceive the big picture. Most people are in the habit of seeing and considering only what is close to them, what pertains directly to them and what is on their mind personally.
It’s like having a zoom lens. When in a logical or analytical mode, the lens is set to zoom in. When in an intuitive mode, the lens is set to zoom out. Depending what we want to intuit, our lens might be set to far out. Of course the farther out you zoom, the further you are from the logic setting.
This is my attempt to explain why intuition seems so illogical even to us. You cannot be zoomed out and zoomed in at the same moment and that is something you have to make peace with.
Scientists have observed that electrical currents are sent out of the brain as we think. We think it is logical to be aware of our own thoughts. We are aware of our own thoughts when we are on the zoom in setting.
When we zoom out, we’re no longer aware of our own thoughts, but we can tune into the electrical impulses sent out by others, which means we can become aware of their thoughts.
Perhaps this phenomenon is easiest to understand when comparing the mind to a radio.
Unless you are in an extremely remote place, radio waves are traveling all around you. You don’t hear the sounds and so you are unaware of their presence unless you tune a radio ( a.k.a. tuner) to receive particular frequencies. As you adjust the dial to different frequencies, you can hear the voices or sounds traveling on those frequencies.
I can’t say that I know exactly how a radio tuner works, but I have no difficulty tuning into different frequencies.
Some radios have stronger antennas. Some can pick up stations that others can’t. Intuitive people are the same way.
Wikipedia’s detailed explanation on how a radio works makes a great parallel explanation: The electromagnetic wave is intercepted by a tuned receiving antenna; this structure captures some of the energy of the wave and returns it to the form of oscillating electrical currents. At the receiver, these currents are demodulated, which is conversion to a usable signal form by a detector sub-system. The receiver is ”tuned” to respond preferentially to the desired signals, and reject undesired signals.
Developing your abilities means learning to zero in on particular frequencies at will and learning to turn off your detectors at will.
How strong is your antenna? What kind of receiver will you be? Will your signals get stronger with your new developments? That’s part of the adventure.
We are all unique and therefore slightly unpredictable. There are so many factors that determine how sensitive your equipment may become that all I can say is that anything is possible.
My own sensitivity changes like the seasons, sometimes stronger, sometimes weaker, but always seems to meet my needs at any given time.
